Frequently asked questions
Which compression level should I use?
Start with Recommended — it usually gives the biggest saving on scanned and image-heavy PDFs while staying readable. Use Light when text must stay selectable, and Strong when the file just has to be as small as possible.
Why didn’t my file get smaller?
Some PDFs are already well optimized, especially text-only documents. If compression can’t make a file smaller, Pressroom gives you back the original.
Does compression affect text?
Light compression keeps everything intact. Recommended and Strong redraw each page as an image, so text is no longer selectable or searchable.
